Do you have a passion for nature, gardening, conservation and giving back to your community? This summer, OSU Extension of Medina County is offering two exciting opportunities to expand your skills and connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
Consider joining the Master Gardener Volunteer Program or Train as an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist. Designed for anyone eager to deepen their knowledge and share that new understanding, these engaging programs offer advanced training from OSU specialists and local experts, hands-on experiences, and a pathway to meaningful volunteer work.
Program Highlights
MASTER GARDENER VOLUNTEER TRAINING: covers soils, botany, insects, pollinators, fruit and vegetable production, tree ID, gardening for wildlife and more. Learn basic practices in horticulture to then volunteer for OSU Extension in supporting your neighbors to be gardeners and stewards of their own lawn and garden. Learn more here. OHIO CERTIFIED VOLUNTEER NATURALIST TRAINING- explores local ecosystems, wildlife, and conservation efforts and provides skills that can be used to support your local parks or favorite conservation organization that may be in need of volunteers. Learn more here. Program set to begin Wednesday evenings, 6-9pm May 21 - July 30th.
Saturday field days are also on the schedule for both.
Cost is $250 per person for either course, or take them both back-to-back for the price of one. Cost covers manuals, supplies, and speaker fees. Financial assistance is available for those in need.
