Sprouts is a special interest (SPIN) club offered through Medina 4-H, designed to introduce youth to gardening. SPIN clubs are short-term, hands-on learning experiences focused on a topic through interactive group activities. This 9-session series is led by certified Master Gardener Volunteers who will guide youth through the fundamentals of gardening in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will explore gardening principles including soil preparation and composting, planting with seeds and transplants, plant care, and pollinators. The series culminates in youth presentations, a garden celebration, and the creation of a club display at the Medina County Fair. By the end of the club, students will have the knowledge and confidence to help garden at home. Sprouts helps youth grow skills, responsibility, and an appreciation of nature.
Cost is $15.00 per child. Youth will receive a free fair pass to the Medina County Fair for attending at least half of the sessions as a 4-H SPIN club member. Meetings are held at the Medina County Community Garden, The OSU Extension Office of Medina, or the Medina Library throughout the summer.
Sessions begin April 14, 2026 and are held approximately every-other week from 5:30 PM- 6:45 PM. Flyer is linked below with full schedule.
