  2. CLASS FULL- Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Training 2019

    2019 CLASS has filled.  Visit OCVN.OSU.EDU to learn about other nearby programs.  Medina will train again in 2021.

     

    OSU Extension will again be offering Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Training in Medina County for anyone interested in learning more about our natural environment, and who has a desire to share their new found knowledge with the public.

     

  3. The 2019-2020 Crop Land Value Survey

    The 2019-2020 Crop Land Value Survey is now available.  By participating in this survey, you help OSU researchers assess the trends in costs for land purchase and rent in agriculture, especially in the Eastern half of Ohio.

    The Medina County Commissioners have closed all county buildings for January 30th due to dangerous cold weather.

     

    Therefore the OSU Extension Office will be closed Wednesday, January 30th.

  6. OSU Introductory HACCP Principles For Meat And Poultry Processors

    The curriculum for this two-day course has been developed for meat and poultry processors, egg processors and food service operations, accredited by the International HACCP Alliance. This course is conducted three to four times per year, based upon demand from the meat industry.

  8. Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease 2 Confirmed in Medina County

    Attention Rabbit Owners:

    The Ohio Department of Agriculture has confirmed the first case of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease virus 2 (RHD2) in the U.S. in Medina County, Ohio on September 19, 2018.  Authorities are investigating domestic and wild populations in the area.  

    Whether or not your area is impacted, rabbit owners can benefit from implementing biosecurity measures on farm and at home to prevent inadvertent transmission of any illness that could impact the well-being of pets and livestock.

  9. Ohio Custom Farm Rates

    “Farming is a complex business and many Ohio farmers utilize outside assistance for specific farm-related work. This option is appealing for tasks requiring specialized equipment or technical expertise. Often, having someone else with specialized tools perform a tasks is more cost effective and saves time. Farm work completed by others is called “custom farm work” or more simply, “custom work.” A “custom rate” is the amount agreed upon by both parties to be paid by the custom work customer to the custom work provider.
